The Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) was developed by the NSW Government Department of Main Roads in NSW in 1975 and was one of the first adaptive control systems to be available commercially. Over the past 50 years SCATS has established a reputation as being a global leader in intelligent traffic control. SCATS has been installed at more than 65,000 intersections across 218 cities and 33 countries worldwide.
SCATS continues to be developed by a dedicated team within Transport for NSW. Transport for NSW is an agency within the NSW Government which leads the development of safe, integrated, and efficient transport systems for the people of NSW.
We put customers at the centre of everything that we do, including transport planning, strategy, policy, procurement, and other non-service delivery functions across all modes of transport - roads, rail, bus, ferries, light rail, point-to-point and emerging modes of transportation.
Thriving people and evolving cities empowered by smooth and safe journeys.
