The Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) was developed by the NSW Government Department of Main Roads in NSW in the 1975 and was one of the first adaptive control systems on the market.
Over the last 40 years SCATS has established a reputation for being a global leader in intelligent traffic control, installed in over 55,000 intersections across 187 cities and 28 countries worldwide.
Today the product continues to be developed by a small passionate and dedicated team within NSW Government Department of Transport for NSW.
Transport for NSW leads the development of safe, integrated and efficient transport systems for the people of NSW. Customers are at the centre of everything that we do, including transport planning, strategy, policy, procurement and other non-service delivery functions across all modes of transport - roads, rail, ferries, light rail and point to point.
